Gate Automation

Motor and control systems fitted to new or existing steel gates across Melbourne's East.

01 — Overview

Gate automation adds a motor and control system to a sliding or swing gate so it opens and closes without being pushed or pulled by hand. Adonai Steel Fabrications fits automation to new gates at the fabrication stage, or retrofits it to an existing steel gate, across Melbourne’s East.

04 — Why choose Adonai

Fabricated to fit, by a local shop.

01

We assess the gate and posts on-site before automating, rather than fitting a motor to hardware that isn’t rated for it.

02

New gates can be designed around automation from the start, cutting down on future retrofitting.

03

15+ years of steel fabrication experience means we know when a gate isn’t ready for a motor yet.

04

Proud member of Master Builders Victoria.

New vs retrofit
Automating a new gate vs an existing one

Automating a gate at the time it’s fabricated means the frame, hinge posts or track are built to suit the motor’s mounting points and safety clearances from the start. Retrofitting automation to an existing gate is possible in most cases, but the gate and posts need to be assessed on-site first to confirm they can safely carry the motor and daily cycling. See our Gates page for gate options.

05 — Our process
How we build it
01

Assess

We assess the gate (or planned gate) — weight, frame condition, posts and available power.

02

Fit

We fit the motor, control system and safety features appropriate to the gate.

03

Test & hand over

We test the installation and hand over, including your remote or access setup.

06 — FAQ

Common questions

Can any gate be automated?

Most steel gates can be automated, but the gate’s weight, frame condition and post strength need to be assessed on-site first, since the motor and daily operation put more load on the gate and posts than manual use.
